I just watched the movie "My Father's Forest".
It is a film that deals with the subject of mental illness. A father begins to have a manic episode (probably due to schizophrenia but it is not named) and throughout the film, we "cross" alongside his relatives, his wife and his children, this difficult passage of forced hospitalization and discovery of their father's illness. The film is spread over approximately 4-5 days after the onset of the first seizure.
The film is very disappointing!
The acting is not phenomenal and the point of view is mainly focused on the eldest daughter. The entire film focuses on the very first days, the father's loss of reality, his forced hospitalization, the family without news during the first days and the refusal of visits by the hospital.
We don't really know why the film bears the name "my father's forest" which was nevertheless poetic and promising. The plot is quite poor, the eldest daughter manages to enter the psychiatric unit where her father is hospitalized twice, the father manages to escape from the hospital ... The hospital is downright incompetent and no explanation on the psychiatric illness of the father is not made during the whole film.
Not really encouraging as a way of showing the general public about mental illness ... It portrays healthcare professionals very negatively and does not encourage patients to seek help or go to hospital or visit someone. one in one of these units ... It stigmatizes mental illness even more and leaving this film we just want to pray not to go through this ordeal, everything is so dark and badly portrayed!
And the final in "culcullapraline" falls like a hair on the soup ...
Well you will understand ... I do not recommend it ...
